Kaila Jewellery - The story behind the jewellery

Hi, My name is Katarzyna Blachowicz and I am jewellery designer and metalsmith. My passion is jewellery making. I discovered this while traveling in India and Nepal and was drawn in by the wonder of handmade works of art. I was fascinated by all the beautiful stones, amazing jewellery and by the people making it, very often on the streets. When I returned to London, inspired and ready to learn from professionals, I enrolled on a jewellery course, which I really enjoyed. After finishing my course, I set up my own jewellery business along with the desire to bring my designs to life in jewellery pieces that everyone could wear and adore. It is so great to watch my pieces flower and to see the joy that is brought to my customers.

My collection offers a range of earrings, necklaces, rings and bracelets designed and handcrafted by me with care and attention to detail. Geometrical and organic shapes, texture of the metal, granulation and semi-precious stones are prominent features in my collection. All my pieces are made by hand, using traditional and contemporary metal-smithing techniques. I work principally in silver, but I like using other materials such as gold, copper and brass. The process of making these pieces is time-consuming, as they are not mass-produced in some factory. Instead, I put time, effort and attention into every piece.

My jewellery is designed to appeal to all tastes and to be worn everyday. I hope that everyone will find what they are looking for, from adding the finishing touch to your outfit or to giving the perfect gift.

The word 'Kaila' has a variety of meanings in different languages, but one meaning that stood out for me was 'stylish', as the concept of my shop is to make something stylish that everyone can wear. Another meaning of 'Kaila' is the word 'Laurel crown' which is a sign of honour and victory, the 'Laurel crown' is important to me as it has an influential meaning and it is also shown in my logo.
